Test Out Option - how?

Hi all,
I am building a course where there are two sets of users, New and Advanced. This is what the client is asking, the new users go through the entire course and pass the assessment.
The Advance users would go thought only new content ( few slides) and take the assessment (same assessment at the end for both group of users), however, if the advanced user fails the assessment, they need to take the entire course.
Can this be done in Storyline 2, if so how?

Tin, have a slide at the beginning where they identify themselves as new or advanced users, you could have the regular path that the new learner would take and make a variable for the advanced learner. If the learner clicks on the new button, they just jump to the next slide and go through the course regularly. If the learner is advanced, make a variable "advanced" and have it's value change to "true" when the learner clicks on it. Then set triggers to set their route throughout the course, for example jump to slide 5.1 when the next button is clicked, if variable "advanced" is set to true. If the advanced user fails the course, you could set a trigger so that a layer is shown (explaining that they must complete the whole course because of their failure) if the learner scores less than the passing grade, if "advanced" variable is equal to true. Have the user click on a button to continue that has a trigger on it to change the "advanced" variable back to false and jump to the first slide that the new learners would see.
Hi, Tin! Thanks for your question! In addition to Linda's great response, I wanted to share a few threads such as this one and also this that you may find to be of value. Please let us know if you still need assistance or if you are all set. :)
Thanks for your quick response, I am still trying to figure out what you recommended. The one thing that jumps out is that if the new user clicks the advanced user option, they see the advance user slide and assessment, there is not way to control what the user will click. Also this is not allow me to show the menu for the course correct?
I haven't used variables so if there an example file that I can find somewhere so I can see how it was set up for what I am looking to do.
Hi, Tin -- It may be most helpful to members of the community if you are able to share your file. It's usually a bit easier to take a look at how things are set up in order to offer advice from there. Please use the ADD ATTACHMENT button in the bottom left of the reply box and you can browse/upload your file. :)
Sorry for the delay Tin. Attached is a quick sample of what I described. If you are afraid that your learners will press the wrong button, two separate courses may be the better option.
