Test Results Variable

Oct 02, 2014

I am creating a custom quiz without using the storyline templates and want to have a score that can be retrieved by an LMS. For some reason - the variable creator will not let me put periods in my names...

Results.ScorePoints  or Results.ScorePercent  are the variable(s) that I need to be able to call my Test Score - PLEASE HELP - I do NOT want to have to rebuild my quiz using the templates, they do not work with my design.

Hi Susan,

Those variable names are reserved for a built in Results slide within Storyline. Have you looked into using the standard results slide and including a question (could be made to not look like a question) that would be able to set the score based on the value of your "TestScore" variable? You may also want to search the forums using Articusearch to see if anyone has set up something like this with Javascript as well.

New issue now that I have rebuilt all of my quiz pages using storyline "pick one" templates - I have TWO quizes. How can I give the results of JUST ONE Of the quizes, as this is a course with two paths, you either are a part of one group or the other - I need to be able to use ONE results page for the LMS that provides the CORRECT total of points/percentage - not one that is trying to combine the quizes or expects the user to pass both quizes.

THe odd thing is that when I test it on my desktop and do one of the quizes I get 100%/100 points, but the other gets 100% and 50 points..

If someone gets 8/10 in one of the quizes it is coming back as 53% in the moodle LMS.

Hi Susan,

If for the second quiz, you're getting 100% and showing 50 points - I'm guessing that the points assigned within the questions are different than quiz one or that there are less questions so not totally 100 points?

In regards to how the scoring is working in your LMS, you can only report one results slide to an LMS - although users have implemented methods such as this one with multiple SCOs or there is a really good thread here on how users have set this up with branching (specific to different languages - but similar to job roles).

Hope that helps

Hi Ashley,

Actually the two quizzes in my course are almost identical except for a couple questions - they both have 10 questions, 9 multiple choice and 1 drag and drop (identical)  - so I am not sure why one is reporting back 50 and the other 100 - the results pages both have all questions selected for each section as well. They all have the same points for correct - 10.

I have added a two page true/false quiz with a results page at the end that basically automatically takes the pass of either quiz and makes the true button selected - and the pass of that quiz is 50% - unfortunately it is still saying 50% even if the learning gets 100% on quiz A or quiz B - I don't know what the javascript would be to double the score. I will look at these other links that you have posted.

Hi Susan,

Without seeing the quizzes, I can't be certain why one is scoring differently. Possibly did you change the submission trigger for any of them, and therefore the user is answering it but it's not actually submitting and then scoring as incorrect once they reach the results slide?

If you've set up a two page t/f - are those both t/f questions, one for each quiz? That would make sense that it's showing 50% then, as the user is only answering one of them. As Phil said, you can only pass one result - and this tutorial on results slides describes the different options.
