Text becomes blurred when I apply animation

Aug 21, 2018

Hi,

Since the latest Storyline 3 update, text becomes blurred and difficult to read when I apply animation. Please see the attached example, which has one screen with unanimated bullet points and one with a fade animation applied.

The text is blurred in Preview mode as well as when the file is published. (Ironic, as the module I'm working on is about disability, accessibility and diversity, that the text is difficult to read...)

Thanks,

Chris

Hey Chris,

Thanks for reaching back out. Chrome is my browser of choice as well.

Do you experience an issue with the link that I shared above when viewing in Chrome? What version of Chrome are you currently using?

If you do not have an issue with the link I shared above, could you verify that you are using Build 3.5.16548.0, which is the latest version for Storyline 3 as shown here.

Do you get the same results with a fresh re-publish?

Hi Vijay,

Thanks for reaching out and sharing what you are experiencing with your published course.

  • Is the content you are viewing published with the latest version of Storyline 360, which is Build 3.20.16814.0?
  • Does the issue happen in a specific browser?
  • Would you be able to share a sample .story file so that we can take a closer look?

Hi there, Chris and Mark.  We were able to identify an issue with animated text looking blurry.  It is still impacting update 23 of Storyline 360 and update 5 of Storyline 3.

We have this issue prioritized, and I'm tagging this discussion so we can update you with any changes!

Mark, I wasn't able to replicate blurry objects when applying a fade transition to my slides.  Could you let me know specifically what sort of slide objects are impacted on your end?  If you'd like to share a couple of example slides here, that would be helpful, too!  Use this link if your content is sensitive.

Hi all,

Since August I'm having the same issue on all of my courses. Not only text, but also visuals and other objects become blurred after applying an animation. I am always using the most recent update of SL360, but none of the updates since August seem to have addressed this issue.

I have worked around this by duplicating every single animated object and displaying it after the animation on the original object has finished. However, this is far from a sustainable workaround.

I'm glad to read this issue is being handled with highest priority and am looking forward for a fix soon.

Are there any updates so far on this?

Hi there, Thomas.  We've started work on the blurriness issue with animated objects, but I don't have a release date to share just yet.  We'll let you know about any changes in this discussion!

In the meantime, if you'd like to have us take a look at your file, feel free to share it privately with our team here.

Hello Mihai,

Thanks for reaching out and describing what you are experiencing.

It sounds like you may be running into a slightly different issue. You mentioned the interface is blurred as well.

Do you have the windows scaling set above 100%?

Here's how you can check/change that for Windows 10 for example:

  1. Right-click your desktop and select Display settings.
  2. Click the Display tab in the upper left corner of the window that appears.
  3. Under Scale and layout, select 100% from the drop-down list.

You may be prompted to restart your computer for the change to take effect.

Thanks for sharing that image SL360 EEIRH, although this discussion is a bit different than the one you posted in here. Are you having blurry text while using animations too? If so, that's an issue our team is investigating right now, and we'll update this discussion once we have more detail. If you've run into general blurriness while viewing in Chrome we'll share details in that other discussion you've responded in. Either way, you should now be subscribed to both and will receive notifications.
