Text Box Animations and video control

Feb 13, 2014

Hello,

This is mi first post.  In the last few months, I've been working with Articulate Storyline developing technical web courses and I have 2 questions:

1. Recently  I had chosen text box with shape styles and entrance animations, but at the end of the slide the text inside the box fade away, even though, I hadn't chosen an exit animations. How can I do at the end of the slide the text keep showing?

2. I had inserted a video on a slide, which is synchronized with an specific audio track. I don't want the user can pause and play the video whenever he wants. How can I do that?

To show you what is happening, I attach 2 slides. Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi Catherine, welcome to the community.

Slide 1: I set the timing of the text box on slide 1 to 'Show Until End' and now it doesn't fade out anymore.

Slide 2: You have the seekbar at the bottom, which lets you pause/continue the slide and with that the video; I assume that's okay. To prevent the user from pause/play the video by clicking on it, you could put a transparent shape over it.

See attached a revised file. One other note: on slide 1, the Next layer never showed for me, because at the end of the timeline I had not clicked the four buttons. I changed the trigger slightly, so that this layer is displayed when the four buttons are clicked (regardless of the timeline).

Hope that helps.

Hello Catherine, welcome to Heroes!

Question 1 - your text box seemed to be a grouped object on the timeline, although I was unable to ungroup the text box.  When I recreated the text box it worked ok, see the attached .story file for my example.

Question 2 - this is a bit trickier, and you have to add a hotspot over your video to accomplish this.  If you take a look at the attached .story file, you'll see I've added a hotspot over your video, then right-clicked on the hotspot and disabled the hand cursor.

Here's a screenshot, and again the updated .story file is attached.  Hope this helps!
