Text box with animations to reveal at set times (one after the other)

Hi guys - sorry this is probably a really simple idea but I can't seem to figure out how to do this.

Basically what I've got several text boxes that are revealed when a user clicks on a picture. However, I want them to not appear at the same time i.e. for the first text box appears instantly, the second one 1 second after etc. I've had a go in animations and the entrance animations option does reveal it after a longer period of time but rather just takes 'longer' to fade in. I've also tried on the timeline but it seems the animation has overruled when the text boxes are to appear.

Option 1

Start with objects in hidden state and trigger to normal
Add trigger to normal for other items based on animation ending
Add spacer items between to control timing of animations

Option 2

Add the text on layers and use the layer timeline to control timing

Thank you some much! Especially for the extra tips! I had no idea I could just use change the state to hidden instead of adding a bunch of triggers.
