Text color changes after importing translated word file

May 12, 2020

Hi!
We are currently doing some translations and used the export/import functionality in storyline 3.

We faced a problem when importing the text: The text colors are not transferred (from the original file), but all texts are black. This is not what we expected as this means a lot of manual work to adapt the text colors afterwards. Is this the normal behaviour? Does anyone knows the same issue and has a solution?

We are using Articulate Storyline 3, Update 9; 3.9.21069.0

Thx!

Hi Sarah!

I've tested this exact interaction on my end and didn't have the same outcome.

Here are the steps I took:

  • Created a new slide and added three paragraphs.
  • I changed the text color in each paragraph so they were each different color.
  • Exported the translation to Word.
    • The text color was translated into Word.
  • Added additional text to one of the paragraphs, and saved the Word document.
  • Lastly, I imported the translation back to Storyline 3. The translation didn't change the color of the font.

Would you mind sharing which version of Word you're using?

Also, do you have a sample .story file that I could test on my end? If so, you can either attach it to this discussion or share it privately by using this upload link.

Hi there, Sarah. That sounds like a plan!

💡Quick Thought: Working on a network drive or an external USB drive can cause distorted formatting. Let's make sure that the project file is saved and published to a local c: drive.
