I just had to resize a SL3 project to allow for more content that came in, and after resizing, all text that had been on buttons has disappeared. Anyone else had this problem / know of a solution?
(Resized from 720px wide to 1000px wide w/ "fill background" option; about 40 slides with at least 7 buttons on each slide; between 3 and 5 states per button)
No, I can't say I've encountered this problem before! But not to worry -- we'll figure this out together.
First, are you referring to custom buttons on the slide itself? Also, can you share a slide or two with me so I can dig into this further? You can attach that file here in a new reply.
Thanks for letting me test your file, Michael! Wow, that certainly is a problem. I'm seeing the very same thing you saw. Let me get this to my team to see how we can help. As I get more information, I'll relay it back to you!
So we figured out that if we expand our window full screen some of these text fields with variables in them disappear. When we leave the course window the size it was built, this doesn't happen. So, our temporary fix was to constrain the course size to ideal, instead of allowing users to make it full screen. We like the option of allowing users to make the course bigger if they need, so it would be nice to know what could fix this. Thanks for entering the conversation Katie!
Player Size: Lock player to optimal size (we changed it to this for all the course after figuring out the scale to browser window made text disappear.)
For the buttons with disappearing text, were they copied/pasted?
Does the same issue happen when working in a new file?
If you need our help to take a look at your file, we're always more than happy to help! You can share files in this thread, or you’re always welcome to share them privately here. We'll let you know our findings and will delete it after having a closer look.

Hi:
Thanks for the reply. These are custom buttons. One slide from the project is attached.

Did we ever get a solve to this? I am having the same problem.
I meant solution
Hi there, Aimee. I'm sorry you're running into this!
I had a peek at Michael's support case where we had trouble recreating the disappearing text issue in a new Storyline 3 file.
Although I don't have a solution to share just yet, I'm happy to keep digging! A few questions to help us sort this head-scratcher:
We're currently having the same issue, but it's with text in a text box that contains variables.
So sorry you're also facing this problem, Stephanie.
I see you also shared your experience in this discussion. Let's continue our conversation there!

This is the version of Chrome that's being used. Version 80.0.3987.87 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Hi Stephanie!
That's helpful information! What are your Browser Settings set to in the Player Properties?
Here are the settings I'd recommend.
Player Size: Lock player to optimal size (we changed it to this for all the course after figuring out the scale to browser window made text disappear.)
on restart: always resume
text is read from: left to right
Hello Stephanie!
Can you also share your file or a screenshot so that I can understand exactly what you're seeing on your end?
You can attach either one to this discussion by using the "Add Attachment" button.
I'm getting the same behavior. If I resize the Story size to 10 px wider (Fill Background option selected) then text on buttons disappear.
Hi Chris,
Thank you for letting us know!
A couple of questions for you on this:
