I just downloaded the trial version, and text will not appear in the text boxes in the Slide View. The cursor won't even appear in the text box. However, if I attempt to preview a slide, the text appears. Help, please. I have no idea how to make text appear to enter and edit content.
On the off shot that someone check this thread, deselecting the Use Modern Text option for fonts on the Design tab solves the issue, but restricts the available fonts.
Hey Amy! I'm really glad you brought this up. I've seen a similar issue mentioned here in the forums before, and enabling Modern Text did the trick in those instances, as well.
I'm curious--can you tell me more about how Modern Text restricted available fonts? What font are you using, specifically?
To be honest, I'm not sure how the fonts are restricted. The list of available fonts is shorter, but I still have almost 2 dozen to choose from. I'm using Open Sans at the moment.
To clarify, I had to disable "Use Modern Text" in order to make the text visible on the Slide View.
Thanks a ton for this post. We just upgraded our trial version today and I have been racking my brain trying to find a solution. I never would have figured out to click that box! What's interesting is I still have the same 23 fonts listed after disabling Use Modern Text as I did before.
I couldn't see any text in any font on my slides. Once I unchecked *Use
Modern Fonts* on the Design tab>Fonts option, everything worked perfectly.
If I go back in and check the box, the text disappears again.
I've attached screen shots for your viewing pleasure. ;)
Thanks for the update Heidi. I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything.
Although, I do seem to be missing the screen shots. Did you reply via e-mail by chance? They won't come through in that scenario.
Be sure to click 'View' in your email so that you can pop directly into the thread and you can share via the 'Add Attachment' option of the reply window and I'll be able to see them.
Thanks Heidi for those screenshots, incredibly helpful! We've seen a few similar random occurrences of this, so I'm going to share it with my team again. It looks like you were using the Open Sans font too?
Thank you for this post. The trial version is still having this issue, but removing modern texts did the trick. Just saw all the gibberish I was writing pop up. Design > Fonts (far right of banner) > Uncheck "Use Modern Text"
Hi there, Barbara! We've identified this issue as a high priority fix, so we hope to let you know when it's working the way it should soon. Thanks for checking in!
Great news, Barbara! You'll find this fixed in the latest update of Storyline 360.
Take a look at the release notes here for some more detail and you can update by launching the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer and click the Update button for Storyline. Details here.
Heidi, thanks for helping us narrow this issue down with those examples! The fix implemented should resolve the issue you were running into where that modern text would become invisible in the Storyline editor, but would still show when previewed or published.

Here's my best illustration of the problem. Note that the text box has expanded to accommodate the text which should be visible, but isn't...

Is this just a problem with the trial version?
Hi Heidi and welcome to E-Learning Heroes :)
The trial version is the full version of the software, minus some templates and characters, so that should not be it.
Are you referring to the font list within your software?
Are you having difficulty with a particular font still or did choosing Modern Text alleviate the issue for you?
