Text entry

Apr 22, 2013

One of the ICT team has asked me to include a part where we test a student on there computer number whic is a sticker on there PC.  We aree conatntly having to tell them where the sticker is. (in top of the computer!)

We would like them to enter a number, however this number could be anythig from 1 - 6000.

I would want them to type in IAnnnn (were n is the number on the computer)

Is this possible?

Regards

Michelle

Hi there Michelle,

Not quite sure I'm following. For the student's benefit, it may be helpful to provide a little prompt that informs the learner of the location for the number. Perhaps "Please enter your PC's identification number. Note: You can find this number on the top of the machine.", etc.

For the text entry, you should be able to enter letters and numbers, but with a numeric entry you'll only be able to enter numbers. It really depends on what you need to do with these numbers. Do all of the machine numbers start with specific letters, or do they vary? If they're the same, you could just put in the letters on your slide (using a text box), then a field for the number.

So, it could look something like this:

Can you give us a little more information on how you envision this project? If we can get a better idea of what you'd like to do, maybe the community can help you out with some additional suggestions. :)

Thanks!

Christine
