Hello. I have created one Text Entry Interaction. Which Storyline calls Text Entry interaction 1. I have a second Scene with a new Text Entry Interaction. When I create it, it still calls the new one Text Entry Interaction 1? Is this a problem? I can't seem to find a way to get it to call it Text Entry Interaction 2.
When I insert a new text entry field into another scene, it's given a new variable name - so this sounds unusual. You can change the variable name by using the small "X" symbol in the trigger panel - but since it is creating them with the same name you'll want to check into a few other things to prevent overall odd behavior in Storyline. First I'd want to check that you're working with local project files, and that you're saving the file name without any special characters or symbols and to a short file path as described here. Next, I'd suggest conducting the repair of Storyline if the behavior persists.
Please let us know how your course is behaving after checking into those elements.
Hello. Thanks! I created the first one. And the next was basically the same activity with different questions SO I copied those slides into a new Scene and used new variables for each question. Its the ID on the Interaction itself that is strange. You know how it adds the Player trigger for submitting the interaction such and so when the user clicks the submit button? It calls both of them Text Entry Interaction 1. The actual variables are renaming as they should.
Ahh, if you copied them - it would keep the name. It's essentially duplicating the slide and the name of the element on the slide. If the variables themselves are renamed you should be ok going forward.
