Text entry variable will not save in LMS unless you advance to the next slide

May 11, 2016

Hi!

I have a text entry box (in a master slide) that is used as a "take your own notes" feature for the end user.

I am testing the course in SCORM-cloud and can't get the variable to save unless I advance at least one slide.

I.E. when I stay on the same slide I can open and close the note any number of times (and confirm that the text I entered is still there)  but if I exit the course and open it again the text box is empty.

It does not seem to be saved in the LMS unless I advance to the next slide before exiting.

Any idea what might cause this?

(I have searched similar discussions but it manly concerns actual reporting to the LMS - this is for the user only).

Hi, Alexis -- Thanks for reaching out here! If I am understanding correctly, perhaps it could be that if the text is entered, but is never actually "submitted", the LMS cannot record it and based on the set Resume behavior, it will return to the slide as if was unanswered when the learner re-enters the course. This article on Learning More About Your LMS: Suspend Data and Resume Behavior may help shed a little light, but please let us know if that is not what you had in mind! :)
