Text field in publish to CD version
Jan 09, 2013
Just wondering if there's something I can do to get the same correction features in my text fields (backspace in particular) when I publish to CD as when I publish to Web. When I publish the project to Web, users can backspace and delete in a text field like in normal word processing if they make a mistake, but when I publish to CD and they type in a mistake, they have to highlight the letter or word and then retype it. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Hi Frances,
Unfortunately, this is currently a bug with content published to CD. We're still looking to crack this issue, but it looks like the key down event for backspace just doesn't communicate properly. We're thinking that it may be an issue with the Flash player, or browser control. However, we're still testing to see if we can find a fix for this.
In the meantime, yes, learners will have to use a different method to erase any entered text. Delete may work (I haven't tested that, personally), but they would still need to either highlight the text, or click at the beginning of the entry. CRTL+A is a quick way to select all the text, but obviously, it's still going to be extra use of additional keys.
I apologize for the inconvenience. This is something that's been pretty bothersome for those of us that are very keyboard-oriented, but hopefully we'll have a solution for this soon!
Thanks!
Hi Christine,
I am also facing same problem with backspace keywords. When I publish the project to Web, users can backspace and delete in a text field like in normal word processing if they make a mistake, but when I publish to CD and type text then pressing backspace, texts are not deleted.
It's great that you're looking to crack this issue,
Thanks,

Yes, me too. I'm really big on using keyboard navigation, so this is something I'm definitely watching. I'm glad you were able to find this thread. If we have any additional updates, I will try my best to share them here.
I hope you have a great day!
Christine
