Text, Images too small when published. DPI is 96

Mar 11, 2016

I've been reading on this forum that a computer's DPI setting can affect text and image size in SL2 and that Articulate is configured to work with a dpi of 96. I made sure my Windows 10 system is set to display at 100%, which is 96 dpi.

Unfortunately, on my most recent project some of the text (when it uses a text variable %yourname%) and a couple of images still display very small when published. The preview is ok though. I have attached two images of the improper displays.

Does anyone know what I can do to prevent this from happening?

Thank you!

Hi Jennifer!

I've not seen that happen with images before, but I have with variable reference text.

You may find that text changes size when it includes a variable reference, depending on the length of the variable's current value. This is by design to ensure that the text is always visible to learners, no matter how lengthy it is.

For example, let's say you're using a variable to display text, then you update the variable with new text at a specific point on the timeline or during an interaction. Depending on the length of the text, it may shrink to fit within its container.

To avoid shrinking variable text, make the text box big enough to accommodate the longest variable value.

If you want us to take a look at your file, you can share the .story file.

Okay, so this is puzzling. I just tried out the course again on my desktop, where I had experienced the too-small text earlier, used a longer name to test your textbox theory and had no issue with the text! One image was still small, however.

I just don't know.... I have attached the slide where the image is displaying too small.

Thank you!
