Text input font sizes

Nov 24, 2014

I'm trying to create a text input question but I'm finding there is a discrepancy in font sizes.

The font size of the text input box in slide view, for the place holder text and the text when you actually type in the box are all different and no matter what I do,they are always different from each other.

I've attached 3 images to demonstrate the issue; one of the slide creation screen, one of the placeholder text in preview mode and one of the typed in text in preview mode. Now, for this example, then text in the slide view and the typed text look a similar size, but this isn't always the issue. And it may not seem a problem if you're not using any placeholder text but, unfortunately, for this project I am.

If anyone can shed some light on the issue, it would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

Andy

Thanks for the quick reply, Leslie. This is not exactly the same issue as there doesn't seem to be any way to change the size of the placeholder text.

Any changes made are not reflected in the published output.

I've seen in other older threads that this is something that is being worked on but had hoped for a solution soon. Do you know when the next update is due?

Thanks,

Ross

chiefy .

This is quite a big issue, that I believe was a problem even in SL1. Do we have any idea when the next update is due? Being able to get back to clients with dates of when we can make our courses consistent would be a big help.

The lack of consistency is becoming a major issue. Text size's changing randomly, images and shapes not being the correct size and position on publish. It's a big problem that needs fixing.

I am having problems with my font size in my quiz outputs.  In the "put the items in the correct order" quiz (i may not have that named exactly) when I preview the 10 items to reorder the text size is so tiny I cannot read it.  And also the menu text is really tiny as well.  MY course is for adults, all age ranges and some of them may be over 60 so this is a problem.  Any advice?  Do I need to make the fonts really big in the quiz?  They are already Articulate 20 which is really big for the web, but they publish very small.  Any advice?  BTW, I have learned to format my text boxes in the master slides to keep breadcrumbs, titles and body text consistent on all slides.

Hi, Debra — As you might have read in previous posts here, if you are changing the font color, you may find that the font size unexpectedly changes when you change the font color on the slide master. This is a known issue, and it’ll be fixed in the next Storyline update. However, if color is not part of your issue, please share you file here so that we may take a look for you.

Hi, Catherine -

Are you running the latest update of Storyline 2? Here is the information on Update 5. If issues persist, could you please make sure you are working locally as described here, and you may want to try importing the file into a new file. If you are still having issues, you might want to try to repair Storyline.

Hi all,

I wanted to provide an update here, as Storyline 2 Update 10 was just released, and included a number of fixes which you can see in the release notes available here. The items you all may be particularly interested in are the following:

Fixed issue where text would be improperly sized in text-entry fields,
Fixed issue where text would be improperly formatted in text-entry fields,
Fixed issue where text would change fonts in text-entry fields

You can download the latest update here, and after downloading and installing the latest update you’ll want to republish any existing content to ensure that the updates and fixes are applied.
