Text misaligned on player skin "PREV" and "NEXT" buttons

Jan 16, 2016

I'm using an open type font which is the official brand font of the organization. In the skin I set this as the player font. The result is that the text is misaligned on the "PREV" and "NEXT" buttons. See attached screen shot. I've noticed this before with certain fonts. Is there any way to correct this?

Also, I attempted to adjust the player text size without any success. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Eric,

I've seen this more than a few times when using certain OpenType fonts so I don't think it's the dpi. I'd personally try to use the TrueType equivalent as SL seems to handle those with more consistency.

If you don't have the font in TTF format, you can use this free online converter to do so, although I am unsure if it breaks/overwrites the embedded 'Copyright' property. If it does, you can send the file over to me (if you're cleared to) and I will convert the TTF for you.

Hope this helps,
Alex

Hi, Eric -- Thanks for reaching out with your question and I see that Wendy and Alex have stopped in to assist you. Please let us know if their suggestions are going to do the trick or if you are still having issues. I also wanted to double check if you are seeing the same behavior when you test your published output in the intended environment, and also ensure that you are using the latest version of SL2

Thanks for everyone's feedback!

Wendy - my DPI is fine and this does occur in both preview and published outputs. The player font text size, when adjusted, just makes the font larger or smaller - it does not ever get the text aligned center with the PREV and NEXT icons on the buttons.

Alexandros - unfortunately I working for a very risk-averse client. Just getting the font took a lot of work, and I highly doubt they would allow me to essentially "break" it as it would likely be in violation of terms of use or copyright for that font.

Christie - We are on SL2 Update 6 (I believe we are behind an update. This is due to our IT dept. needing to vet/test any update that goes on our machines. And yes, this behavior is present in both preview and published outputs.

As I mentioned earlier, I've noticed this issue on occasions before. Maybe in addition to the ability of adjusting the player text size, the ability to further manipulate positioning would be a welcomed feature.
