Text Rendering Much Larger and Heavier in Storyline 2
Jun 08, 2017
Hey all,
I'm working on a style guide for some training courses and the point sizes I am giving my team based in the mockups I've created in Photoshop and Sketch are rendering much larger and at a higher weight in Storyline 2. I've attached an example of two screens (one in Photoshop, one in Storyline 2) in which the stage is 1920 x 1080 and the Headline text is Amazon Ember Light in 120pt and the sub-headline is Amazon Ember Regular in 72pt.
As you can see, there is a big difference. Is this a bug? Is there a work around or a cheat sheet (example: 120pt = 140pt)?
Thanks,
Marc Petricciani

Hey Marc, not sure, but this article might help a little for your case. https://community.articulate.com/articles/how-to-use-google-fonts-with-variable-references
Thanks Richard,
Unfortunately, that seems to only apply to Storyline 3 and 360. Also, I think it also only applies to Google fonts, which are hosted online, and to HTML5 output, and I'm exporting to Flash.
The fonts I'm using are installed on my computer and should render the same when exported.
Thanks,
Marc
Hi Marc,
I'm not a Photoshop expert - but I knew I had seen this before. Take a look at the discussion here for how Storyline and Photoshop handle the font sizing and a suggestion at the very end for how to sync those up!
Hi Ashley,
Thank you so much! I was going over the files over and over trying to find out what the discrepancy was and this seems to have solved it. It turns out that the "bold" selector had also been activated, which is why the type was appearing heavier. There's no bold selector in PhotoShop, Sketch or Illustrator, so I didn't know to look for it. I'm still pretty new to Storyline, so thank you again for the assistance.
