Hey Kim! Great question. I know that I've seen other users mention that they'd like to see Speech Synthesis Markup Language (SSML) to provide more user control like paragraph, breaks and audio pause etc to customize the audio creation. I'd encourage you to submit your ideas and feature request here as well :)
Found this question by Kim while I was searching for the same answer. An additional feature for SSML would be very helpful.
In the meantime, I found you can affect small changes in the text to speech by adding punctuation and using phonetic spellings. Commas and hyphens cause a brief delay and by using e.g. 'prezent' instead of 'present' I was able to get the text to speech to sound more like 'present a briefing' than 'receive a present.'
