The new features such as Text to Speech is only available for Storyline 360 right now and is not slated for inclusion in Storyline 3.
Since Storyline 360 is part of Articulate 360, which is an annual subscription service, it’ll provide you with continuous feature updates to Storyline (unlike Storyline 3).
Storyline 3 continues to be supported and has received a few new features since it's release such as:
Thanks, I'm familiar with 360. Someone should be aware that some have security reasons that require use of SL 3 and there's quite a large population for whom this is a reality.
I can certainly understand that, and if you do need to talk through any security or compliance concerns with our team, they're happy to provide you and your IT team more details on that. You can reach out here if you'd like.
Do you know of 3rd party developers for characters that can be used in Storyline 3? Aside from creating my own characters I'm sure there must be content providers around that can make character sets for purchase.. BTW: our organization size precludes the Articulate 360 subscription fee. It would be great to have this access to content, but at the cost of not having Storyline 3, we choose to go ahead with Storyline 3 to have the editing capabilities. At the time the character set was for sale was it not? Why not make real options for customers and provide a work around to a limited character base?
We used to sell a separate set of photographic characters, and with Content Library as a part of Articulate 360, we stopped selling additional characters. If you had previously used those characters with Storyline 1 or 2, you'd still have access to them within Storyline 3.
As for 3rd party developers, I know I've seen a lot of examples shared by Jerson Campos, whose pretty active here in the ELH community.

Has there been any update to this? It's been two years and I still can't find any text to speech capabilities that have been added to Storyline3, the support of which seems to be disappearing. I can't access things I used to be able to (character packs for example). I'm in the same boat where the security requirements of my agency preclude the use of 360 at this time. Is there any hope those of us required to stick with S3 will ever get text to speech?
Thanks for checking in! We don't currently have a Text-to-Speech feature in Storyline 3 but our team is continuing to track the need. I don't have a specific timeline that I can share, but when I have an update I'll share in this discussion.

Thanks. I am specifically looking to find out if they will add this feature to SL3 as they have to 360.
