Wondering if there are any recommendations on TTS in Storyline 2. I have read some threads, but they are 2+ years old so I am wondering if there are any changes/updates?
It's not commonly known but newer browsers can do TTS (Text to Speech) on the client side now and with quite reasonable quality. This is called HTML5 Speech Synthesis. We've made an add-on for Storyline 2 that reads whatever the notes are from each slide instantly.
Hi Danny. I'm currently developing a course on Storyline 2, and I will need accessibility for certain learners so the screens I create they will also be able to be read out to them.
With this tool, how do I embed the text to speech tool so learners are able to hear the screens read out to them?

Hi Rebeca - the tool Danny mentioned above is a 3rd party product and not an Articulate product, so your best bet may be to reach out directly. Looks like he shared a link above as well.
Recently I have needed to use TTS for a few of my courses. One system that I am using is "Naturalreader" (https://www.naturalreaders.com/) - it is a download to your computer and it costs ~$160.00.
While most TTS are very robotic in nature, I have found that the "Dave - US" option sounds the best (relatively speaking). It is very easy to use - type in your text, then export it to MP3, then you add it to your page and adjust the elements of the page to match the audio.
So far it is working out well for me and my customer like it.
I have, in the past, used the option where you can add the text and have it read on the side bar by the learner - I think that works well for shorter dialogue.

Hi Geraldine,
Its still not a feature of Storyline, so I'd refer to those threads in terms of products or software that you could use outside of Storyline.

I am keen to see how people are using TTS in their projects, so if you do use it and you are able to share a link I'd be grateful.
Kind regards,
Danny
Thanks for the information and your response, Danny. :)

Hi Ashley
Thanks for getting in touch. Is there a member of staff that could help me instead on this?
Thanks

Hi Leslie,
I've had a look at the website. But it's not very helpful. I'm just wondering if there is another tool I can use?
Thanks
Gotcha - yes - we defer to the community on recommendations like this.
There are a couple of other threads you may want to take a look at:
Text to speech software recommendations?
Text to Speech software
Otherwise, hopefully someone in the community will chime in and assist.

Thank you for all your help everyone. I'm afraid I can't purchase any software right now. I work for a educational establishment so on a tight budget.
I will try out the other software recommended though.
Many thanks
Hi Leslie
Thanks for the heads-up. Not a problem with my signature, but I'll remember to come into the tread to respond next time.
Cheers and Happy New Year

No worries on our part either - just like to be sure that users are aware :)
