One of the reasons bought SL2 is that it finally supports em dash, but I still don't know how to put one between words. I've searched this forum but only found workarounds from 1-4 years ago...not helpful to someone like me who wants a real em dash in my beautifully crafted paragraph. What am I missing? Any suggestions?
Hi everyone - the above solutions don't seem to work for inserting an em dash in the Notes pane. (The Symbol feature is not available.) Any suggestions? Thanks!
Thanks, all. I tried Brett's solution before posting my question and it did not work for me. I just tried again, and still had no luck. However, it could be my laptop keyboard. It does not have a NumLock key - the numbers are listed above the QWERTY line. When I tried the Alt key combo, Storyline just beeped at me. I will check with my IT group about how to mimic the numlock. In the meantime, it's good to know that this feature is supposed to work in the Notes pane.

Hi Tim
I do it as an 'Insert symbol - select the font and then insert the em dash' is that what you mean
You can also enter the ALT code. You need to make sure the NumLock key is on then type the follow:
em dash = ATL+0151 —
en dash = ALT+0150 –
Thank you both for pointing the way!
Glad you got the help you needed here Tim!

Hey Jennifer. Brett's solution works in the notes pane as well.
Hi Jennifer!
Did you attempt Brett's solution above?
Symbols can be added to any text-based object, including text boxes, captions, shapes, and buttons.
If you would like to this available other places in the software, please be sure to share your thoughts with our product development team here.

Hi Jennifer
if you type your content into a text box on the slide and then copy that into the notes panel it works...it's not ideal but a workaround.
Thanks, Wendy. That did the trick!!
It is frustrating that we have to use a work around for such a simple task. I have made a feature request.
Thanks Cary! For anyone else as well, please be sure to share your thoughts with our product development team here.
Glad it worked Jennifer - not ideal but whatever it takes. Good luck with your project.
