The Project File could not be saved...

Aug 20, 2013

I am getting an error when savings my storyline project.

"Your system appears to be low on memory. Please close any other programs and try again."

I have closed everything on my computer. I even closed down Windows Explorer (explorer.exe) But when I save again my physical memory never even gets close to 100%. It stays around 55-58%

Is there a maximum amount of slides you can put into a Storyline Project?

I had approximately 120 slides with animation and around 30 of them with voice recording.

Any helpful information would be appreciated!

Thanks

Hi Christina, thanks for reaching out about this! It sounds like you're seeing an error that says your project file could not be saved, is that right?

A few more details would help me get to the bottom of this:

  • What version of Storyline are you using?
  • Is this file saved to your local hard drive?
  • Does this happen with all Storyline files, or just this one in particular?

This is still happening to me in 2022 on Storyline 360, the most recent updated version. I have a fine computer with only one Edge tab open (which I need to build in my Storyline file). Storyline can only seem to handle about one change per save. If I forget to save after every click, Storyline will fail to save, giving me the same message people experienced 4 and 9 years ago.

I see why folks in my industry are looking for alternatives to Articulate products.

Hi Allison,

Thanks so much for reaching out. Sorry to hear you are running into this issue when saving.

I see you've opened a support case and you are working with my colleague Lianne. Good call! You're in great hands!

We'll continue the conversation over in the support case.

Hope you have a great weekend and happy developing! ✨
