Timed Questions for Final Exam?

Jun 09, 2014

Students are required to take a final exam at the end of my course.  Is there a way in Articulate that the student can be limited to 60 seconds per final exam question?

Hi Stephanie,

You could set the slides to automatically advance when the timeline ends and set that at 60 seconds. Depending on how you've set up your questions, you may want to also set it to select an incorrect answer so that the user proceeds to the next question or allow it to not submit all the questions until the end.

Hi Stephanie,

You mention " Depending on how you've set up your questions, you may want to also set it to select an incorrect answer "  ... how do you set the question to automatically select an incorrect answer?

The project I am looking at will have a time limit per question. After the allotted time elapse, a layer is triggered to display the correct answer and message "Sorry you ran out of time!". I am having trouble making the slide advance, and receive the Invalid Answer prompt stating "You must complete the question before submitting."

Thanks for your ideas!

Hi, Mindy -- Thanks for your question! And as this post is a bit older, you may want to reach out to Stephanie directly via the 'Contact Me' link on her profile page to inquire if she found a solution that worked for her. Or, here is another discussion that you may find to be of interest.

And if you still need assistance, no worries -- you are always welcome to upload your file for the community to take a look and offer suggestions!

Hi Mindy,

I'm not entirely sure on your set up - and this thread is a bit older so Stephanie may not be subscribed. Depending on the trigger you have to show your layer, could you add a trigger just before that to change the state of one of your incorrect answers to the "selected" state when the timeline ends. In my example, I was referring to allowing the user to submit all at once, which would have them bypass the "submit" button - but if they don't revisit the slide to answer it, the question will still be marked as incorrect.
