My graphics and text animations are not synced properly when I preview a course in Storyline 360. It works fine when I preview from the timeline, but if I select the Preview option to review a slide or scene, it becomes out of sync. Anyone else experiencing this issue?
It's been happening with all my courses for a while.
I'm sorry this has been plaguing you, Megan. You've come to the right place, and I'm happy to help. I have a few questions to start:
Are you on the latest update of Storyline 360? To check, click the Help tab, the About Storyline. You should see 3.8.13281.0 in the bottom-right corner.
I am using the latest version of SL360. I am working from my local hard drive. Using Windows 7 via Parallels though. Could that make a difference? And I've already tried uninstalling/reinstalling.
What we learned in the old days (of SL2) is that it is actually working correctly when you preview a slide or scene using the preview icon. Previewing from the timeline is where it is not working. It was a cute idea, but never very accurate. At one point in SL2, that was fixed, but 360 is a different animal.
It sounds like your set up is different than what Walt shared - in that it's previewing normally from within the timeline preview, but not when you use the preview from the top tab? How does it behave if you preview the whole courses vs. just one slide/scene? What about the published output?
Would you be able to share a copy of your course with us?
So I didn't express that well. My point is that if you work to make things perfect in the timeline preview, they may be out of synch when you view it for "real". This is especially true if you always start the timeline preview in the middle. Only the the top tab preview shows what the learner will see.
Hi Walt, that's not my problem. My timeline preview works fine. It's the top tab preview that doesn't work.
Ashley, none of the slides are synced properly on the upon first review, but when I go back to that slide by clicking the Back button, it works on the second go around.
The published output works fine too - it's just my top tab preview mode that acts wonky.
I will try to put together an example. My project contains proprietary information so I would basically have to strip it apart which will take me some time.
I'm hoping someone else has this issue. Anyone else use a Mac and access 360 via Parallels? I'd be curious if the issue is related to that.
Thanks, Megan. An example would be really helpful. And if you could record a Peek of the behavior you're seeing, even better!
Our team uses Macs and accesses Articulate 360 using virtual machines like Parallels and VMWare Fusion. Those environments are supported, so I wouldn't expect any issues to pop up there. Keep us posted!
