Timer stopping

Sep 25, 2017

Hello everyone,

I am using a question template that includes a 20 second timer. If a user does not select an answer and clicks submit, the timer pauses. The once the user click on "continue", they are taken back to the question and the timer resumes.

How can we avoid this issue? Is there a way to disable the submit button unless they have made a selection?

Hi Erika,

I think the best approach to this is to create a new submit button and disable the default one as there is no option to modify the behavior of the default submit button.

You can do this by below steps:

1. Disable default submit button (unchecked Submit).

Disable Submit

2. Create a submit button for submitting the interaction manually.

Create

3. Add the trigger to the submit button for submitting the interaction.

Trigger1

4. Change the initial state of the submit button to hidden.

4

5. Add  triggers to the submit button.

Trigger 1: Change the state of the submit button to normal when the user selects Radio Button 1.

5

Trigger 2, 3 and 4: Same trigger just change the Object to the other answers button.

I have created a sample here  (attached) so you can check.

Hope this help and let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks

Hi Erika,

Is the "continue" button on the feedback layers? If you've allowed for more than one attempt at the question the default behavior on the Try again layer is to return the user to the question slide and allow a brand new attempt.

You could restrict it to only one attempt if that would also help with the resetting!
