Times/cue points "slipping" in video

Apr 11, 2018

I'm using Storyline 2.

My course contains a video that is approximately 15 minutes long. My intention was to insert four cue points in the video, then pause the video at each cue point, ask the learner a question, then resume the video after the question is answered. This has been a lot easier said than done...

The first cue point/question seems to work fine. The others keep moving around somehow. I'll set the cue point  and define triggers, then when I preview the slide with the video, the cue point will be slightly off, causing the question to pop up at the wrong time. I'll move the cue point and test it again, only to find it's still in the wrong spot.

The same thing occurs when I use the time instead of a cue point.

It's also very difficult to test, as I have to play the entire video up to each cue point to test it. If I use the seekbar to scan to the correct area, the triggers associated with the cue points don't work at all and the questions never pop up.

Can someone help with this?

Thanks,

- Jennifer

Hi Jennifer,

Are you only seeing this while previewing or using the timeline preview? Have you been able to test the published output as well?

I know in Storyline 2, the timeline preview has been a bit laggy, and our team has looked at ways to update this to be more in real time. Those updates haven't rolled out yet, but once it's ready they'll be included in our newest versions of Storyline.

If you have any other questions or need help with the syncing you have set up, I'm happy to take a look at your .story file or you can share it directly with our Support team here.
