I created a very short story, containing of a Web Object only. This object is a local file with lots of java script in it. Saving the file is no problem, Buit when I try to publish, I receive an error message (see attach), which actually does not make any sense, as path and file names have been much longer in other, successfully published stories.
have you tried removing the webobject, replacing with a shape and testing if it will publish - then you'll know if it's the path name or the webobject - that's a start anyway.
Yes I did that and it obviously depends on the Web Object. But here it cannot be an issue of too long file or path names. Which restriction have to be considered, when working with Web Objects?
You're not able to save the file because the location that you're trying to save in is tooo long. It's not a storyline issue but a machine limitation. Try saving the file on desktop and see. It'll solve your problem.
You can read about file names and file paths here - and it's definitely something you'll want to consider in terms of where you're saving to also confirm you're working locally. Working on a network drive or an external (USB) drive can cause erratic behavior, such as file corruption, an inability to save changes, and loss of resources.
