I have a course with 74 total slides. There will be 6-7 different branching options within, so depending on the path a user takes the total potential slides viewed will vary. However, we want to track their completion on our LMS.
New question... we created a 20 question test to be used as a pretest to gather information to train on. What can you say about the question my client has just posed?
In the processof pulling reports inside of the LMS, I realized that I am not able to create aTest Question Analysis report to determine how questions were answered. YourSCORM file is basically a PPT with embedded questions. Those questions andanswers are not stored in the LMS as extractable data. However, I did noticethat the properties on the SCORM files have the History Options with CaptureHistory and Capture Detailed History enabled. Can you please tell me how we canget a report on that data?
Also, you'll want to be sure you're tracking questions by a results slide that reports to your LMS and determine if your LMS needs you to publish as a particular SCORM setting.
I actually published this course with Articulate, as an add-on to PPT, but can I assume that what you state about Storyline will do is the same? btw, I do use Storyline for several projects, but for some reason went the Articulate route on this one.
I will pass along your information to our client, but I am guessing that she will press back on the 2nd half of her question:
I did notice that the properties on the SCORM files have the History Options with CaptureHistory and Capture Detailed History enabled. Can you please tell me how we canget a report on that data?
As for how the data is received, that totally depends on what data your LMS supports and the features enabled on their servers. Some LMS providers will pull in all of the data that's sent, some will only pull in a couple, etc.
I'm by no means a coding expert, and I certainly don't know the explanations for each bit of coding in the SCORM output files, but I believe the history options are for the following:
Capture History Determines:
• whether the Content Package should send back information about each attempt.
Capture Detailed History Determines
• whether the Content Package should send back detail.
I don't believe it's possible to manually generate a report on these options, because they are merely functional options and really relate to communication between the course and the server.
Again, however, I could be misinformed :) I'm sure others will chime in and provide some helpful information, if that's the case.
Thanks Christine... it dawned on me that I tagged this topic on to a totally unrelated topic... I am going to start a new thread and copy/paste this into it.

Hi Dick,
What about setting a fine slide that all the branches would visit at the end and use that slide to report results as described here?
Ashley,
Thanks SO much....

Hi Dick,
Each LMS is different in terms of how it handles question data and detail, but here in the information Storyline will send to your LMS.
Also, you'll want to be sure you're tracking questions by a results slide that reports to your LMS and determine if your LMS needs you to publish as a particular SCORM setting.
Thanks Ashley,

Any thoughts on that part?
Thanks!

Hi Dick,
Ashley's out of the office on vacation this week. I wanted to stop by to see if I could be of any assistance with your last question.
First, yes - Studio projects publish with about the same data as Storyline projects.
For example, here's the data sent by one of our Studio '13 products:
Quiz Data Sent to an LMS in Articulate Quizmaker '13
As for how the data is received, that totally depends on what data your LMS supports and the features enabled on their servers. Some LMS providers will pull in all of the data that's sent, some will only pull in a couple, etc.
