Tracking progress of video file

Nov 30, 2020

Hello people!

I wonder if any of you have had to track the progress in an embedded video. Our client wants this to be just a video and it ocurred to me that we could solve it by creating a set of slides, each of one having a portion of the video.

It seems there is no specific variable to do this, but there is always the doubt if we´re really using the best tool to do the job.

Thank you all in advance!

It depends what exactly you mean by "tracking" the progress of the video. I would simply create a timer that started when the video started and then compare the value of the timer at any given point by the overall time of the video to determine progress.

You could represent this by having a progress meter, possibly using a slider at the bottom of the video, or having a digital readout counting down to zero seconds, for example. In either case this could be placed on a single slide with the video on the base layer and the progress meter on a layer over the top of the video.

Hope this helps.
