Tracking property on Publish dialog is still not working!

Nov 28, 2012

I have seen this link

http://www.articulate.com/support/kb_article.php?product=st1&id=yx6horce95n7 about "Tracking property on Publish dialog is incorrect" but it doesn't provide a solution. It only says "You can avoid this behavior by clicking the hyperlinked Tracking property on the Publish dialog to change the number of slides viewed" however when I try changing that to a different number (fewer than the total number of slides) it still doesn't track correctly. What to do?

Many thanks for your help.

P.S. I'm a newbie to LMSes and Articulate so please explain things with that in mind.

Hi Leslie

Just to be clear, you tried changing the tracking property by clicking on the hyperlinked tracking property, then published your course, and after testing it in your LMS, the tracking is still not working correctly?

Which LMS are you using?

Would you mind testing your course in SCORM Cloud to help us determine if the issue is Articulate-related or if it's on your LMS's side? If it appears in SCORM Cloud as well, we'd be happy to take a closer look at what might be going on. If you can't replicate the issue in SCORM Cloud, it's probably an issue that you'd want to take to your LMS team. The articles here and here may also help clear up common LMS issues.

Thanks for your response, but I'm afraid this is complicated!

To be extra super clear, when you say "changing the tracking property by clicking on the hyperlinked tracking property" do you mean literally only clicking on the link or actually changing the "mimimum number of slides viewed to complete" or doing something else?

I have tried both multiple times!

I also tested the course in the SCORM Cloud and then when I take the course there, it does say that it's complete, but I do not see how to tell if it's tracking the progress and the grade. Even when I had not finished the course yet, it still said "passed" when it shouldn't have.

Appreciate your help.

Thanks for getting back to me, Leslie If you're able, I think the easiest thing to do, would be to share your file with me and tell me exactly how you'd like the course to be tracked / scored, and I'd be happy to set it up and make sure that everything is functioning as it should. If you're not able to attach the .story file here by using the paperclip above your reply, you can send it to me confidentially here.

And in the meantime, if you haven't already, it may be helpful to review our tutorial on publishing for LMS. Thanks, and I'll look forward to helping out!

Phil, that's helpful, thanks!

I see this:

  • Track using number of slides viewed: With this option, your LMS will determine whether a learner has passed or completed your course by monitoring the number of slides the learner has viewed. Use the selector to choose a number.
  • Track using quiz result: This option appears if your course includes a quiz result slide. Select this if you want your LMS to track learners' status based on their quiz results. If your course has multiple quizzes, you'll need to pick just one result slide to use for tracking. For more about result slides, see this tutorial.
  • I just read that tutorial, and guess that I'll have to go back and look into this. Thanks so much for the tip!
