Tracking without an LMS - Email JavaScript?

Hello everyone,

I know this issue seems to have been well covered in older posts, but I've worked through all these and cannot get any of the solutions there to work. 

I'm currently building a course for a client, and this will be hosted on their website with no LMS. I'm looking to track user completion of the course so that users can be awarded for their course, and that I can track the number of users completing the course. 

Ideally,  I would be sent an email that contains the learner's name, and I have tried to achieve this using a text entry box and Javascript trigger. 

Does anyone know any other way to track this information, or has a working example of this type of story file or code?
