Hello! I am using a character whose poses change during a scene with slide triggers. The transition between poses is very jerky. Can anyone help me resolve this in SL 360?
Really sorry you're running into this, Ellen. We're seeing the same problem, and our team is on it. I'll tag this thread to be updated as soon as the fix is released!
Since this issue is specific to HTML5, the Flash output should work normally. I don't have any other workarounds beyond that at this time, but I'll be sure to let you know if I get any updates on this.
Thought I'd try the text to speech with characters and ran into the same issue with it being jerky when switching between poses. Any word on a fix? Can't use Flash as students are constantly calling the Help Desk saying SL doesn't work. We do explain that they have to enable Flash in their browser but it keeps coming up as an issue.
Sorry this is still happening, even in the latest update. Would you mind sharing a sample of your project file with us? We'll try and spot what's going on here. Thanks!
I'm definitely seeing the character flicker when the timeline starts on slides 1.2 and 1.3. I'm going to bring this to my team to get some more insight on why this is happening. Once I know more, I'll pop back in and share an update!
Hey everyone. Just a quick update...I'm excited to let you know that we just released update 5 for Storyline 3! It includes new features and fixes - check them all out here.
One of the fixes addresses an issue where objects were flickering when changing state in the HTML5 output.
Here’s where you can download and install the latest version of Storyline 3. Let me know how you make out!
I have this issue in Storyline 360. Looking for a way to smooth the transition from a forward facing pose to a side facing presenter pose. Any suggestions.
It was very abrupt so I over lapped the images just a smidge and set the exit to fast on the 1st image and the entry to fast on the second image and it is better now.
Hi, I'm wondering about this as well, and full disclosure, I am a newbie. What I notice is a flash between transition of a character from one pose to another on the initial preview, after that it's smoother (although not perfect). Am I doing something wrong?
I had found another article about this so I over lapped the images just a smidge and set the exit to fast (00.25) on the 1st image and the entry to fast (00.25) on the second image and it is better now.
Hi Janice, thanks! So you stagger the same character twice on the timeline (in the different poses) and then add entrance/exit animations on the transitions? Right now I'm just placing the character on the timeline and handling the transition through a trigger on states.

Hi, Alyssa:
Are you aware of any workarounds for this issue?

This is happening in Storyline 3 as well. I hadn't noticed it happening until recently.
Hi Sherrill,
I'm sorry you've run into this too. We do have it noted as happening in Storyline 3 and 360, so we'll let you know as soon as we can about an update.

Hi Jamie,
No update yet, but we promise to keep you posted on news of a fix. You're in the right place--we'll let you know as much as we can, as soon as we can!
Hi, is there an update on this. I'm having the same issue with jerky state changes in Storyline. Thank you!
Oh no, Claire!
Are you seeing this issue with characters and changing poses as described above?
What version of Storyline are you using?
We do have this prioritized with our team and this conversation is attached to the report so that we can update you here as soon as we can.
I am following up on this. Has there been a resolution? I am having the same issue. Is the best way to branch using the avatar the employee chose?
Hi Marie,
It looks like this issue is fixed in Update 18 of Storyline 360, where an illustrated character shows a flicker/flash when changing the expression.
Have you installed the latest update?
Yes, I have the updated version.
Hi Marie,

I have attached an example.
I noticed that when I add a transition between slides that it prevents the flash. I am not sure why this would prevent that.

Hi Janice!
I created a quick sample file with a character that changes to a side-facing pose. Click here to view the sample slide.
Is that what you had in mind? Are you seeing a jumpy transition between poses in your own file?
It was very abrupt so I over lapped the images just a smidge and set the exit to fast on the 1st image and the entry to fast on the second image and it is better now.
Thank you!
Happy to hear you found a solution, Janice! Thanks for the update.

States may also work using the same animation. Attached is what I did.
