Trigger a change to a character state

May 08, 2012

Hi All,

First, I have to say how much I love Storyline.  I have used a lot of different content creation tools, and this is by far my favorite yet.

I do have a question, though and I'm sure there's a simple answer, but I haven't been able to get it to work the way I want.

What I'm trying to do is trigger a change to a character state at a certain time in the timeline, without needing any user input.

i.e.  at frame 90, change character 1 state to happy

I understand you normally use triggers or a combination of triggers and variables, but I can't seem to figure out a way to make it work.  Seems like it shouldn't be hard to do, but I can't get it.

Is there a way to do that?

Thanks

Aaron

I too would like to say thanks for a great product and add that I've also been looking how to do this.  I was looking at cue points first but it appears that these are 'just' playhead alignment tools and not related to trigger events at all.  Assuming this is the case, I think that's a great pity as it would be the easiest way to add triggers to the timeline and do whatever you wanted with them.  This shape thing in this thread is a good workaround but given it's more work than should be needed, it's highlighting something fundamentally missing from Storyline.  Hope you think cue point triggers is worth adding to your roadmap!
