Trigger changing state via variable counting

Sep 23, 2021

Hi at all,

I am working in my company with articulate storyline 3 and I get stucked right now. I think I am the problem but sadly I have no clue how to continue.

I wanted to set the state of a button to continue to the final page via a condition from deactivated to normal.

I set up a variable that counts up to x. When this variable is higher than x the state must change. But it doesnt. The counting is working.

I attached a screenshot, only in german, the software is setted up in that language.

Slowly I get a little bit frustrated :(

Thanks for your help!

Hello, Sebastian,

Does the variable change on the same slide as that trigger? If not, then the trigger won't execute, because the trigger won't "see" the variable change.

The "when" part of the trigger needs to occur on the same slide as the trigger.

  • For example, if the user is returning to the slide, you could change the button to Normal when the timeline starts (with the same condition about the value of the variable).

You might find some helpful info about controlling the Next button here:

This post talks about the Next button, but the same methods can be used to control a custom button.

Ok I think sadly this wont  work for me.

I have different scenes that needs to be completed before going to the final scene. And here I want to have the next button foirced to be disengaged before the user did not visited every scene and completed the "quiz" at every end of the scene.

Or did I understand it wrong?

Greetings,

Sebastian

Check the mixed Navigation in the sample at this post:
https://community.articulate.com/discussions/articulate-storyline/free-sample-restricted-and-free-random-navigation-using-variables-and-triggers
It has four buttons that take the learner to different slides (but you could make it scenes), and when they are all visited, a button appears that can have any trigger on it you want. In the restricted navigation, the four buttons appear in order, only after the previous one is visited.
