Hello. I have multiple page PDF documents that I need my learners to open at a certain point in the elearning. I have added a button with a trigger to open the document.
For the life of me, I cannot get this to work. I have published for SCORM and loaded to SCORM Cloud. When I get to the slide with the PDF trigger button and click on the button, the whole course closes.
Hi Carrie Ann, first i would check you are using a jump to url trigger and your url looks something like this
http://www.example.com/myfile.pdf#page=4
That said, this feature is really a feature of added by Adobe and not all pdf readers will deep link.
Safari and the apple preview app will not deep link on Macs and iOS devices. Chrome should deep link but is slow with large documents and often opens first page before opening at the right page. Edge and IE seem to work fine normally. Any browser that has the Adobe reader plugin will work. It is just hit and miss.

I am linking to a PDF file that is on my desktop. I have checked the external file folder and it does appear there.
Why does this feature function differently than when you attach at PDF to the Resources tab?
Sorry I got the wrong end of the stick here, this should work, however normally I just add as a resource and link to it using
story_content/external_files/MyFile.pdf
Thank you so so much! That worked! I knew I needed to link to that file somehow, but I wasn't sure how!
