trigger not working

Rebekah, you need to preview the scene or the whole project, it will not jump to a slide if you only preview that slide (mainly because it has not previewed the slide you are jumping to)

Question - are you just previewing one slide at a time or the entire project? The triggers won't work if you are just previewing a single slide because SL is just showing you that slide.

Try previewing the entire project. Your triggers and the next button should work.

I'm having another silly issue with triggers - I've set rectangle shapes as triggers to show a slide layer, other layers not hidden, and basically it just doesn't work? I've just made them transparent boxes over the words in a text, and they are in the front.....

On the layers you have these yellow ovals, they are defined as hotspots. Hotspots are not visible. So if you want these yellow ovals to appear you need to convert them into an other object that can be rendered.

I've modified your storyline, you just need to fine tune it a bit more
