Trigger problems

Feb 12, 2021

Hi all! I can't figure out why my two simple triggers are not working here.

1. Clicking the icon should trigger audio on every click but it doesn't. I've tried to reorder the triggers and reloaded the audio (also the whole file).

2. The arrow should return to normal state when the variable reaches value 10, but it's for some reason not listening.

Any help appreciated!

Hi, Iina!

Thank you for sharing your .story file!

It looks like one of the triggers you had (see below) for Icon 1 was re-loading the same slide every time the user clicked the button, which is why the other triggers got overridden.

Disabling this trigger did the trick! The audio works, and after 10 tries, the arrow button gets enabled.

Thank you for figuring that out for me Maria! Unfortunately that one trigger is essential for the activity. The idea is to construct the phrase that appear on the blacboard by dragging the relevant pictures down to the line below. The trigger conveniently returns the pictures as they were. Can you think of a way to move the pictures back when user clicks the icon? I remember seeing a webinar where motion path was somehow used but I can't find it now.

Hi, Iina,

Thank you for explaining the expected behavior! It makes total sense what you were attempting to do with re-loading the slide. As you mentioned, the motion path can be a great alternative. I recorded a quick Peek 360 overview showing how it's done.

The idea is you want the motion path starting and ending points to be the same, so the picture will not move when the slide first loads, but it will return to its location when Icon 1 is clicked. You can use the Animation Painter to save time when adding the same animation to multiple objects.

Let me know if you have additional questions,
