I've created an org chart in Storyline that when the viewer clicks on the "person" a layer appears that includes their email address and direct telephone number. I have a trigger for the email address that works as expected but I can't seem to figure out a way, if there is one, for the telephone number. We use Skype and it would be great if I could have the viewer click the number and it launch the call.
Does anyone have any ideas as to make this work?
As a side note, I am publishing this as a Web file and uploading to our Intranet site.
I know a lot of modern browsers will pick up the phone number and create a hyperlink for it, allowing you to click to initiate a call. Keep in mind that if it's connected to Skype, each user would have to have a Skype extension installed on the browser they are using.
It's definitely worth testing out - and when I've seen other folks implement this before, you'll want to make sure you test by uploading to a web server to test! Testing it locally has caused the link to not function in the past, so if you're not ready to use your intranet site, you could try it out by using Amazon S3 or uploading to Tempshare.
