I have a course that I am putting together that has 6 modules. I need to have learners progress through the course in order. So I want the succeeding module to open when the preceding one concludes. I also need the finished module to show as visited. (I did create a new visited state.)
not sure I understand what you mean by use the same variable in two triggers. It depends on what actions the triggers are doing to the variable.
The default visited state will be active as soon as the user clicks on the menu item so you shouldn't need triggers to 'change state to visited'.
I would recommend creating 5 T/F variables one for each module 2 - 6 (eg. M2, M3, M4, M5, M6)
On the main menu slide Set Module 1 to normal
On the main menu slide Set Modules 2 - 6 initial state on the states tab to disabled.
On the final slide of each Module set the relevant T/F trigger to True eg. Adjust variable M2 to value True when (the timeline starts or ends or media completes depends on how you want to set it up)
On main menu set trigger 'Change state of Module 2 to normal when timeline starts on main menu slide on condition that variable M2 = true
Repeat points 4 and 5.
Set Main menu slide property to resume saved state on revisit.
Hope that helps - if not upload your .story file and someone can help with your specific setup.
Does each item have a visited state? Happy to take a look if you want to upload your story file. Just use the grey 'add attachment' button at the bottom of the post.

Wow! Thank you for getting back to me! I will work on this now.
Okay! You did it, Wendy. Thank you!
Now something odd is happening. the visited states on Mods 02 -06 will not stay on. When I return to the Main Menu, the state is Normal, not Visited.
Can you help with this?
Thank you.
Tess
Do you have the slide property set to 'resume saved state'?
I did do that.
I think I have it working now by adding triggers to change states to visited.

Wendy. I had to add a trigger for each Mod to change it to visited when the variables that you helped me to set were altered.
Thank you for your help and Happy Holidays!
Glad you got it sorted Tess - good luck with your project and Happy Holidays to you to!
