I have created a layer for a particular interaction. On this layer, I want the user to be able to click on a button (trigger) which will then display a message.
I added both the button and the message on the layer, but now I can't figure out how to trigger it.
No it didn't work, unless I'm not understanding you correctly. I took another picture showing the triggers, as well as the fact that my base slide layers are hidden.
I also attached a video of what actually happens...in preview at least. When I click on the Buttons Picture, the first text box of the new layer displays over top of the base layer. The base layer does not disappear.
I am trying for this effect: On the Buttons Layer, when the user clicks the button, the Congratulations message appears. This is for an Instructional Design class.

Hi Heather
I think this is what you're asking.
Set the initial state of the message to hidden in the Edit States tab.
Add a trigger to change state of message to normal when user clicks the button

Hi Heather Sorry I'm not following.
do you not want your base layer objects hidden?
The link to the video opens a facebook page which tells me the content is not available or has expired.
Can you share the .story file or even just that slide - just upload using the add attachment button at the bottom of the post.
I am slowly figuring it out. I will post when I am done. Might not be until Sunday morning CST.
No problem Heather - shout out if you need help. I'm in Australia so if I'm not around when you post I'm sure someone else will be.
