Many triggers are attached to an object. For example When user clicks on object - which object? When timeline starts - Which timeline - slide, layer, object? When animation ends -which animation on what object?
Pay attention to those objects because the trigger is attached to the object. If you have a specific problem, attach a slide here, so someone can take a look.
Thanks Walt. I've been able to resolve this by adding a button to the layer, but I was hoping to be able to use the 'next' button to return the user to the base layer, which I haven't been to do.
Hi Inbar, you can hide the layer with the Next button on the Base layer (see attached story file), however, I should point out I definitely wouldn't do it this way (with variables/states). I would definitely use the clear filled shape on the layer to trigger Hide layer, as you note - however, in case you really want to use the base layer Next button for some reason, see attached.

Inbar,
OK, now that I understand better what you want, here's a sample where clicking the next button sends you to different layers, then to the next slide.
