Triggers Panel Bug

Feb 01, 2019

Nearly every time I create a new trigger, duplicate or delete an existing one,  the entire Triggers panel becomes a jumbled mess:

It basically becomes unusable.

This happens regardless if the panel is docked or not. The only way to restore it is to either jump to another slide and come back or collapse/expand the panel (only works when the panel is docked) and sometimes it takes multiple attempts.

This has been going on for 6+ months. Each time an update gets posted, I hope that it's been fixed, but alas, it's still there. Several of my co-workers are experiencing the same issue. It's extremely frustrating and it really slows down production and often leads to errors because we can't see what we're doing.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Hey Smartfirm,

I'm really sorry you're dealing with this. I know it's got to be annoying to adjust your trigger panel multiple times a day, and it's difficult to work with triggers like that.

We've seen other reports of the same problem, and our team is working to nail down the root cause. We'll share an update here as soon as we get new information!

Hi Norell,

We're still digging into this one, and looking to chat with customers who can consistently reproduce it. If you can, and are able to reach out to our Support Team that'll help with our next steps!

As for a workaround, undocking, and redocking the trigger panel has fixed it. Other customers have mentioned switching slides and returning to the previous slide allows everything to return to normal.

I have tried to see what may replicate this, but it seems to just happen, does not seem to be a pattern that I have found.  I do a Save As and close the file and re-open, that seems to help for a little while. If I don't even resizing the triggers panel only lasts for one edit, then it goes right back to the problem, so really slows down development.

I also find when this happens, that the trigger panel up and down arrows become inactive, so if you click on a trigger to move it up or down, the buttons stay grey.  I have to close and reopen the file to get them back.

Hi all,

I wanted to pop back in here and let you know that the issue where text overlapped in the triggers panel, making it difficult to read, has been fixed in today's update to Storyline 360, build 3.30.19518.0

To install the latest update launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer and click the Update button for Storyline. Details here.
