Trouble having two layers appear at the same time

Is it possible to have two layers appear at the same time? I want learners to click the "What is formal coaching?" button, have the man move right, display the text on the left (which is the "formal coaching" layer) and display a Back button (the Back layer). The woman and informal coaching button are hidden. It all works, except if the Back button appears, the text doesn't, and vice versa. I KNOW there has to be a way do this!! Also, shouldn't I be able to change the man's state to Normal for him to return to the left? Thanks so much to anyone who can help!

Unless I'm mistaken. There is no way to show 2 layers at the same time.. they will inevitably cancel each other out.. why can't you just put the back button on the same layer?
Deb,
Check your layer properties (little gear icon to the right of the layer name). It's possible you have "hide other slide layers" clicked. This will only allow one slide layer to be open at a time. If you deselect this for each layer, you can have multiple layers appear simultaneously.
