Trouble with Multiple Results Slides

Apr 03, 2015

I am having trouble with a final results slide showing 'Success' or 'Failure' triggers and also reporting to my LMS that the learner has completed the material as it is saying in progress even after the learner finishes the quiz and exits the course. I am new to Storyline 2 so any help is much appreciated.

I have built a quiz with two question banks each having a results slide after. After the learner is finished with the second quiz and views the result slide they go to a final results slide that calculates results for 'Selected Results Slides' and 'User Must Pass Each Quiz'. This final results slide (1.5) created two triggers, 'Show layer Sucess when the timeline starts If Results2.Passed is equal to True' and 'Show layer Failure When the timeline starts If Results2.Passed is equal to False.' Neither of these triggers seem to work.

On the final results slide I have created a trigger 'Submit results 1.5 Results slide when the timeline starts.' This trigger is reporting to my LMS that the learner has answered questions  but is showing the material as in progress rather than complete. It is also reporting something as broken, fixed. I am unsure of what this means. I am using Growth Engineering LMS.

Hi David,

Instead of using the "user must pass each quiz" I'd recommend using the :

  • Combine points from each quiz: Select this option if you want the scores from all tracked result slides to be added together as the final score for the course, then enter a percentage in the Passing Score field. In this scenario, a learner could fail one or more of the individual quizzes and still pass the overall course.

As the "user must pass each quiz" just looks that they met the passing score, but won't tally the scores to report to a results slide. You'll see this when setting up the results slide no variables are listed there automatically. With the set up above, you'll want to set the passing score at a percentage that would guarantee they passed both of the other ones - so a bit of math to figure out. ;-)

I'm unsure about the additional error you mentioned but you'll want to look at testing your course at SCORM Cloud which is an industry standard for testing SCORM content. Once you see how it behaves there you can use that as a base line to reach out to your LMS team.

Ashley thank you for taking the time to look at my quiz.

I appreciate your advice on the combine points from each quiz but I will need to use the feature of User must pass each quiz for the project I am building. Do you have any suggestions as to what might be causing the layers to not display correctly?

I will take a look at the SCORM Cloud and see if that helps.

Hi David,

It should report completion, but a score is not determined for the total course. If you look at the triggers, it's showing the layers based on the value of a variable being true/false - meaning they passed both quizzes.

As to why it's not showing the layers, that's something I'm not seeing in preview either and I suspect it has something to do with the results variables being used. I'm looking into them, but it seems there are a few duplicates? Can you confirm you're working on local project files as described here?
