Trouble with scrollbar in a lightbox

Jul 10, 2018

Since the last update to Storyline 2, I’m experiencing trouble with a scroll bar in a lightboxed slide. The hotspots previously anchored to a jpeg image within the scroll bar. Clicking a hotspot fills a variable circle to the left of the row. However, now when the user scrolls to the bottom of the jpeg to select hotspots in the last two rows, the hotspots are misaligned with the numbers. In fact, all of the variable circles to the left of the rows are misaligned. The alignment is perfect when I preview the .story file, but gets wonky after I have published for LMS.

I’ve tried replacing the hotspots with transparent circles as well as changing the browser settings from “Display at user’s current browser size” to “Resize browser to optimal size.” Neither solution fixed the issue. The player is already set to “Lock player at optimal size.”

The file is included here. From slide 1.1, click the second form in the group of three forms at the bottom right. Don’t go to slide 1.2 directly, as you need to experience the problem within the lightbox.

Thank you so much for any suggestions!

Hi there, Sue.  I agree - the HTML5 output is showing the hotspots out of line when they're in a scrolling panel in a lightbox, specifically once you scroll.  I'm documenting this issue for our team to have a look.

In the meantime, you have a few options.  You could leave out HTML5 output from your publishing.  You could also advise users to make sure they have Flash Player enabled in their browsers.  I like the lightbox effect a lot in your course, but another option is to show that as a regular slide since it seems to function.

I'll keep you posted on any changes to this behavior!
