Troubleshooting - Interactions works in slide preview but not once it is published

Hi..I have to troubleshoot an older interaction created in SL2. I grabbed one of our old SL2 licenses and opened the interaction. I don't quite understand why the interaction appears to work in slide preview but then once published the interaction is not working. From review of the triggers, it appears they are correct, can't isolate what is preventing being able to open the second box on the published interaction.

Hey Julie,

Storyline 2 previews in Flash, but publishes to Flash & HTML5. Most browsers have moved to disable Flash automatically in recent years, which mean you may be seeing the HTML5 version of your published project. The Flash and HTML5 versions of a course are mostly similar, but there are some differences which could be causing things to break - especially since Storyline 2 is rarely updated these days.

It's hard to say without viewing your file.... are you able to share it?

Thank you for offering assistance. I have 360 and work mostly in Rise but need to support this SL2 interaction. I find it confusing why there is an issue now as this course has been running since 2016 and has not been touched. I guess it makes sense it could be related to HTML/Flash. Thanks again for any assistance, Julie

Hi.....thank you! Yes, it is  lesson 6, module 3. At this slide (coffee), it works in preview but the student cannot progress past this slide in a published version. I downloaded a SL2 license as we have one and opened and republished, but the same issue, cannot move past this slide.

I just received another request for support this morning, so definitely feel like something is happening...Hi Julie... FYI..Here is a student who contacted the helpdesk regarding Lesson 7 module 2 with the same type of issue as Lesson 6.

Hey Julie,

I don't know if you've been assisted already, but we had a similar issue in our courses where buttons on layers would still remain 'active' (just invisible) after the layer was hidden, and obscure any buttons on the base layer. It looks like that may be happening with your project, since I see the background box on each of the layers on your coffee slide is a button.

I would recommend deleting the buttons on these layers, and instead use the shape tool to make rounded corner boxes for your layer backgrounds. Then add a trigger to close each layer when the user clicks OUTSIDE of the boxes. That way it should prevent the buttons on your base layer from being obscured.

Hope this helps!
