true/false variables between scenes

Aug 27, 2015

I have a scene called resources that my lesson scenes can link to for the user to access extra resources that are within the course, but some of the resources I don't want accessible until the user has completed a certain lesson.  I set up a variable to change the state of the link to the resource to true when the user clicks the "next lesson" button at the end of the lesson.  I set the initial state of the link to the resource to disabled. Then I set the trigger to show the resource layer when the user clicks the button and the value of that link is true.  Alas, it does not work.  I've checked to be sure that the triggers are at the top of the list (except on the resource slide where the back button is in first place and it cannot be moved down???).    Any ideas anyone?  Thanks!!!

If this is an accurate description of what you are doing, then the resource layer will not turn to true when the user clicks unless the layer is already true.

Change the state of the layer to visible when the user clicks if a variable is true.

Of course, without seeing the .story file, I'm just making a wild guess.

When problem solving variable issues it can be helpful to put a text reference that lists the variable's state on your slide(s). To do this, put a text box on your slide that reads %varbiableName%. The text box will then tell you the variable's state. Its very handy for determining if triggers are working how you expect them to.
