Try Me Mode - Text Entry Issue

Feb 21, 2013

Hi...and Help! I’m having an issue with the “Try Me mode” screen capture.  An example would be the user is sitting in a field and is expected to type a number (or text) and then  press <enter> to complete the process.  What is happening is the user types the number (or text in other examples), but when they press <enter> the text box turns into a scroll box and the text just scrolls up and the cursor is now just sitting there.  Storyline is actually taking the <enter> as a character as compared to the submit key.  I checked “Edit Entry Text Interaction” and tried changing it there, but with no success.  I’ve recorded what I’m taking about in screenr to show you what I’m talking about.  What am I missing?

Thanks for the screencast, Scott! Really appreciate it.

The first thing I would try is slightly shrinking the numeric entry box. If Storyline thinks there is room for another line of text, the enter key will act as a line break rather than a submission, as described here

If that doesn't seem to be what's going on, we'd probably need to see the file to take a closer look at things. You can send it privately here

Thanks!

Hi Peter.  I've played with the field size and font and still not much luck (unless I'm missing something).  I've opened up case number 00320475 and uploaded a copy of the file.   The first slide it happens on is slide 3.5.  If you could give it a look and let me know what the issue might be it would be greatluy appreciated.
