Try Mode Editing Help

Does anyone have any simple notes to explain how to use the elements of action fine tuning for software simulation screens?  I am really struggling when editing Try Mode slides - I select a hotspot to move to a specific next screen - the screen displays the correct captions but against the previous screen (its as if the frame has not moved on).  I've somehow managed to move the fine tuning action markers around and got it to work but have no idea how (was it the end or start frame that fixed it??).  The video I am using works beautifully in view mode.
