Try This One on Your iPad

May 14, 2012

I've only tried this on my iPad 1 (got my iPad 2 on charge). The video on the home screen (by clicking the white document on the lower left) along with it's rectangular background are pretty jerky. The flash version is reasonably good.

If you don't mind, try the flash version first (to see what it should look like), then try it again in the Mobile Player and let me know if you get slow-loading jerky video and fly-out animations.

P.S. Only the first two slide contain content.

Funny, I have a 1 and a 2, but the 2 sits idle just because I have everything I use loaded on the iPad 1. Me and the Apple syncing software don't seem to get along! Thanks for the kind words about the book. Couldn't have done it without Phil and Steve. An enormous amount of it (and the online stuff) comes from them.

Hey, Gerry -

Cool that you picked up the book. Just uploaded a heap of new stuff to the members area. Don't forget to check that stuff out

Yup.  Very nice book.  I also ordered this one to check it out also.

Three reasons why.  One, I like to go back from the start sometimes and review things--and pick up things I may have missed during the beta.

Two, I'm trying to get Storyline into the company I retired from (was only able to get that done halfway before I left with Storyline still in beta then).  Will also be speaking on Storyline here in the area.  As part of that, I like to pitch resources that I've actually used and believe in.  And books also make great props during talks.

Three, I like to support colleagues I got to know.  May have been virtual and in a beta, but colleagues nonetheless.

Yep, that's the video. In the flash version you'll see that the blue rectangle flies in from the lower left. As soon as it gets to its spot, the video fades in. All nice and smooth.

On my iPads, the blue rectangle flies in, then sits in its position for a few seconds before the video abruptly appears. I.e., no fade in.

When the video ends:

In flash, both the running video and the blue rectangle fly out slowly to the top. Nice effect.

On the iPads, video stops, then the blue rectangle flies out by itself. And the fly out is not smooth - chunk, chunk, chunk, then gone.

Part of the problem is that animations of video object may work in flash, but not in the Mobile Player. But that still doesn't explain the chunk, chunk, chunk fly out of the blue rectangle.
