TTS and Time Limit on the E-Learning File

Sep 04, 2016

Hi

I wish to buy Storyline 2, provided it offers me these features. I did a research from my side, but could not get an answer

1. Does storyline2 offer TTS (Text-To-Speech) capabilities? I wish to leverage my .PPT files to create the content. Each slide in PPT has some notes, which I wish should get converted into voices. This is available with Captivate. What about Storyline2?

2. Can I put a time limit that the learner should not be able to play the content beyond a set time?

In my LMS, I can put a validity period for the curriculum, say, 50 days. Within these 50 days, I wish that the user should not be able to play the file beyond 20 hours. This is to prevent unauthorized sharing to outsiders. If they share, then they lose that much portion of 20 hrs allotted to them. Can I limit the file playing time while generating the final file from Storyline2?

Regards

SL doesn't offer a native TTS solution though it's javascript programming support does offer a way to connect your content to 3rd party web based TTS solutions.

As for the time limit, again, I've created such functionality for clients by way of custom javascript programming as SL doesn't offer a native publishing option. In general this would be a function of the LMS than SL

Hi Ajay,

Brian is correct that Storyline doesn't have a native Text to Speech set up, but as you can imagine it's been a common question, so you may want to look at the items mentioned here:

The time limit would be something I'd look at enabling within your LMS. That is where your users is logging in and accessing the course, so it's also where their time spent is tracked.

Hi All

Many thanks for taking out your time to reply to my thread

Regarding TTS, its bit disappointing that Articulate SL does not offer this
native feature. Adobe Captivate does this just fine

Regarding timer, I could also figure this out in Adobe Cp. But once set
off, it wont stop. So, if the user has paused the video, the timer still
goes on

May be, I agree that this has to be done in the LMS only. There seems no
other option.
